At Shell Bank Junior High School, we believe in nurturing the whole child, which is why we offer an array of opportunities for students to follow their passions and to grow their talents, both during the school day and outside of school hours.
Choice and Pathways
All students have the opportunity to pursue their interests and enrich their learning experience through our Choice and Pathways programs. We offer an array of electives, and twice each year, students are able to select a course of study that appeals to them. Electives meet one period per week. Some of our offerings include:

Drama
Each year our drama department works in conjunction with Broadway Junior to produce and perform a musical theater production. Past performances have included, Annie, The Little Mermaid, and Hairspray. Students must audition for a role in the show each year, and rehearsals are held on Monday and Tuesday, at 2:05.

After School Programs
We offer a variety of programs both after school and before the school day begins, to help meet the needs of our entire school community. All of our programs are free and open to all students.
After School (2:35-5:00)
The after school development team runs this program, during which time students receive homework help and the opportunity to participate in the recreation of their choice. Some of the activities that are offered include Book club, Muttigrees, Beat-Making, Mad Scientist, Home Economics, Chess, Debate, Art, Basketball and a variety of sports.
Language Workshop for English Language Learners (T, W, TH 7:00-7:40 AM and W-TH, 2:35-4:35 PM)
This program is geared towards students who are learning English as a new language.
High School Regents Classes
Honors students in the 8th grade have the opportunity to take Regents classes and exams for high school credit. Course offerings include The Living Environment, and Algebra.
