Shell Bank's Digital Media Team, comprised of 6th and 7th grade students, conducted an interview with Ms. Donohue, our technology teacher.
Q: Where do you come from? A: I was born and raised in Brooklyn.
Q: Do you enjoy your job? A: I love being a teacher.
Q: What social media do you control for the school? A: I control only the website. But my Digital Media class contributes to our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Q: Is there anything special you do with your classes? A: The curriculum is always changing, but every year, I try to focus on Digital Citizenship to teach responsibility. I also like to foster creativity with my students by working on videos and digital music. One special thing that we do is our trip to NBC to see how professional television is made. We also bought virtual reality headsets and that is a lot of fun too.
Q: Is there anything you wish you could teach your classes? A: I wish I could teach them 3-D printing, but the machines and materials are really expensive.
Q: How long have you been teaching? A: I have been teaching for 18 years, almost 19.
Q: What inspired you to be a teacher? A: Actually I wasn’t going to be a teacher, I worked for a children's book publishing company as an editor, but I was bored sitting alone at a desk all day, so I left to become a teacher.
Q: What are your hobbies? A: I love to read, and to do crafts like beading. I also love yoga.
